Jonas Peterson Workshop | Brisbane QLD

Last week I was one lucky girl.  I attended the Jonas Peterson Workshop in Brisbane with an amazing group of people.

And it was awesome.

Not only did I get to spend two days with the master Jonas in his gorgeous home studio, but also with his sweet fiance Jacqui and the super talented and hilarious Todd Hunter McGaw and Alyda McGaw.

Jonas is one talented man and I have taken away so much from my time with him, beautifully different to the lessons I expected to come away with.  And I swear Todd is a genius, I learnt so much from him just chatting at the workshop dinner… and my brain then proceeded to melt with information overload.  They were all so beautiful and willing to share anything and everything about their paths to awesomeness.

I think the biggest thing I have learnt from the workshop is “you are your own edge”.  How I see things and who I am is what makes me different and I need to embrace that, trust my instincts and run with it.

I read in Russh magazine on my plane ride home “We learnt that individuality is bravery.  That keeping it real is not about being radical at all, but doing what is true.”  It couldn’t have been more fitting.

I’m going to bring more of what I love into my work.  I hope you love it too x

Here are a few of my shots from the workshop ‘live shoot’ …

2011. Thank You.

Dear 2011,

Thank you for all the amazing people I have met through the little adventure of starting my photography business.  Couples, families, models, other photographers, people in the industry – I have adored meeting them all and cannot wait for more fun with these lovelies, and many more to come, in the new year.

Thank you for all the beautiful people who have supported me, for their encouragement, the Facebook ‘likes’ and blog followers who put a smile on my face, for their hugs and love – it has meant to world to me.

Thank you for being such a challenge.  You have made me want to push myself to new levels, to dream big, to shoot more – both for my business and for me.

Thank you 2011.  Hello 2012.

Love Sarah x

Fashion Photography | Melbourne

A big dream of mine is to become a fashion photographer.  I spend endless amounts of time looking at the work of my favourite photographers, watching films such as ‘Life Through a Lens’ – a documentary on the brilliant Annie Leibovitz and ‘The September Issue’, and losing myself in the the pages of Vogue.

I recently had another trip to Melbourne to take part in a Editorial Fashion Photography Course with Christian Blanchard, who is an amazing fashion photographer.  Christian, and his assistant Vinnie, were so lovely and so talented – it was a fantastic day.

Here are a couple of my shots of the beautiful model Grace and some more photos of Melbourne… the city I am having a little love affair with at the moment, I’m itching to go back!

Finders Keepers Market | Melbourne

In March my sister and I headed to the Finders Keepers Market in Melbourne.  After wanting to go for a long time I wasn’t disappointed!

The stalls were beautifully decorated with buntings, lace, doilies and vintage fabrics – I was in heaven – all topped with gorgeous, unique pieces. So much talent – I highly recommend anyone who loves that indie/vintage style to head to the next Finders Keepers Market and spend a day surrounded by pretty.
